Considering Conor McGregor’s interest from the outset in getting a rematch with Dustin Poirier after his brutal KO loss in the UFC 257 main event, it’s hardly surprising to hear that the fight seems now to be officially a go. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reports that Dustin Poirier has put pen to paper on his half of the bout agreement, one that McGregor had already signed off on.

The two men first fought all the way back in 2014, with McGregor taking the TKO victory at just 1:46 into the first round. Following that loss, Poirier jumped to the lightweight division, going 10-2 (1 NC) and capturing an interim UFC title in the process—as well as an ill-fated title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

McGregor fought three more times in the featherweight division, after defeating Poirier, picking up a win over Jose Aldo to take his first undisputed UFC belt in the process. The ‘Notorious’ Irishman has only competed six times in MMA since that victory, including a pair of welterweight bouts against Nate Diaz, and a lightweight title victory over Eddie Alvarez.

The event will be broadcast from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for the UFC 264 PPV card. Outside of the feature lightweight headliner, the event is expected to include a co-main event between welterweights Gilbert Burns and Stephen Thompson, a women’s flyweight top contender bout between Jessica Eye & Jennifer Maia, as well as a featherweight fight between Ryan Hall and Ilia Topuria. Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow for more news of the card as it becomes available.
