The UFC 260 main card is underway, and 23-year-old Miranda Maverick just won a unanimous decision over the promotion’s #15 ranked women’s flyweight, Gillian Robertson. Maverick was doing her thing on the feet with combination punching, and despite having to overcome some bad positions on the ground in the second round, she beat Robertson at her own game in the final frame. Miranda is a bright prospect to keep an eye on, and she has already beat a ranked opponent.

Opening up the main card, Jamie Mullarkey put Khama Worthy on his highlight reel in just 46-seconds. It was a sinister left hook that did the damage, and then some followup ground and pound sealed there deal. What a way to get your first UFC win and bounce back from consecutive losses!

Main card:

Miranda Maverick def. Gillian Robertson by unanimous decision (30-27 x2, 29-28): (W) Flyweight

The flyweight started exchanging right away. Maverick was throwing her punches in combinations, and then would move out of striking distance. Robertson spent a lot of time defending the volume coming her way. Maverick caught a kick to spend a small amount of time in top position, and then hit a another takedown at the end of the round.

Maverick got right back to leading the dance with her striking in the second round, until Robertson was able to close the distance and put Maverick on her back. She worked to stay on top of Maverick, transitioning to the back and not allowing Miranda to stand to her feet. Robertson controlled until there was about 30-seconds to go in the round. Maverick unleashed a flurry of strikes to finish out the round with authority.

Maverick got busy in the final frame, aggressively attacking Robertson with combination punches and head kicks. Robertson went for the takedown, but Maverick sprawled and took the back of Robertson. She punched away, dropping blows from the top as Robertson tried to improve her position. Robertson threatened with an armbar at one point, but Maverick remained safe and returned to open space. Miranda then blasted a takedown against the cage with less than a minute remaining to finish up the fight in the dominant position.

Jamie Mullarkey def. Khama Worthy by TKO at :46 of round 1: Lightweight

The fighters exchanged leg kicks to get things going. Then, a mean lead left hook from Mullarkey landing cleanly, instantly putting Worthy on skates before making him fall. Mullarkey pounced with brutal ground strikes, bringing an abrupt halt to the contest. Wow!
