In our stories they have more details about this news.

The planned bout was first announced during a press conference on Thursday. During the said media event, organizer Saúl Ríos revealed that it was Chavez Jr. who brought Silva’s name up as a possible opponent.

“It was what Julio mentioned,” he said. For now, there is nothing concrete, but he is you are looking for, we are negotiating. It would be a 10-round fight.”

Silva, who turns 46 this April, last saw action on Halloween night when he lost via fourth-round TKO to Uriah Hall. The loss marked his third consecutive defeat which led to his UFC release three weeks later.

The 35-year-old Chavez Jr., meanwhile, is coming off a fourth-round TKO win over Ecuador’s Jeyson Minda in November.

Silva has been repeatedly linked to a possible boxing match with Roy Jones Jr. in the past, but his UFC contract at the time had prevented it from ever materializing.
