Kevin Holland looks to run his winning streak to six straight when he faces Derek Brunson in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 22 fight card.
Holland began his UFC career with a 3-2 record between August 2018 and October 2019. He opened 2020 with a May TKO win over Anthony Hernandez. In December 2020, Holland knocked out Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Between those two bouts, Holland scored wins over Joaquin Buckley, Darren Stewart and Charlie Ontiveros for a perfect 5-0 run. During that stretch, Holland elevated his significant strikes landing rate to 60.5 percent, which put him in the number one spot in UFC middleweight history in that statistic. Anderson Silva sits behind him in second place at 59.1 percent.
On Saturday, Holland faces Brunson, who has been with the UFC longer than Holland has been competing as a professional. Brunson joined the UFC in 2012 after a run in Strikeforce. Brunson is on a three-fight winning streak with the UFC and coming off a third-round TKO win over Edmen Shahbazyan. Shahbazyan, like Holland, came into the fight with a lot of hype behind him.
UFC Vegas 22 takes place Saturday from UFC Apex in Las Vegas. ESPN and ESPN+ carry the main card. The prelims are on ESPN 2 and ESPN+.
