We’re just a month and a half away from Ben Askren’s professional boxing debut against popular social media influencer Jake Paul. While Paul’s two pro bouts were against YouTuber AnEsonGib and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, he is actually the betting favorite against the recently retired UFC welterweight and former ONE and Bellator champion.
I suppose one of the reasons Paul is favored is the fact that for all of Askren’s success in MMA and years of combat sports training, boxing is not really his thing. You tend to associate Askren’s style with wrestling and grappling and about as little stand-up as possible.
Well as fight night approaches, “Funky” Ben is showing off his pugilistic prowess in this recently released sparring footage. He’s put on the boxing gloves and is working on his combinations and his clinching and it’s all there for you to see.
