The UFC is in Vegas this weekend with a pay-per-view offering that is headlined by a UFC welterweight championship fight. In that bout champion Kamaru Usman will take on his friend and training partner Gilbert Burns.
Also on the card Maycee Barber meets Alexa Grasso and Kelvin Gastelum faces Ian Heinisch. Rounding out the pay-per-view are clashes between Jim Miller and Bobby Green and Maki Pitolo and Julian Marquez. At least, this is the plan.
As we’ve seen over the past 18 months anything can happen on the eve of a fight night. For the welterweight title fight to be official both champion and challenger will need to weigh no more than 170 lbs exactly. So let’s keep an eye on that.
Elsewhere on the card there could be all sorts of hijinks. The COVID-19 era has seen plenty of fight cards shuffled at the last second thanks to positive tests and difficult weigh-cuts.
