UFC 258 is happening this Saturday (February 13th) from the promotion’s apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada with the headliner seeing welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, defending his belt against fellow teammate, and #1 contender, Gilbert Burns. Bloody Elbow is here with the betting lines for this championship contest, as well as for the rest of the UFC 258 lineup.

The betting odds are favoring the welterweight king, here and do so by quite a bit. His straight up moneyline is sitting around the -275 mark, which means a successful $100 bet on the champ would payout $136.36. As for the challenger, the #1 ranked Gilbert Burns is being offered up as a +235 betting underdog. So, a winning $100 ticket on Burns would bring back $335.00 altogether.

Usman is getting a ton of respect form the oddsmakers and betting public alike, and why shouldn’t he? Has anyone seen him lose? Colby Covington gave him a run for his money in 2019, but the champ pulled out the win nonetheless. There was that one prospect loss to Jose Caceres that Usman suffered in his second pro fight way back in 2013, but other than that he’s been all aces. It’s pretty clear why Kamaru is such a heavy betting favorite over Gilbert.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master in Burns is on quite the run himself, posting up six-straight wins to get to a title shot. In his two bouts of 2020, Gilbert knocked out fellow BJJ wizard Demian Maia with a left hook, and then ran away with a dominant decision over the former champion, Tyron Woodley. In his three defeats, he fell short on the scorecards against Rashid Magomedov and Michel Prazeres forever ago, and then was knocked out by Dan Hooker at 155-pounds back in 2018. Burns has tons of skills on the ground and his standup is quickly catching up, but is he rounded enough to take the title?
