UFC 258 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the first episode for this weekend’s big show in Vegas, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off at Kelvin Gastelum’s house in foggy Huntington Beach. He shows off some photos of himself and his favorite fighters. He’s talking about rebounding from a couple of losses and dealing with the pandemic. He says when gyms reopened, he was better off because of his home training system.
Over at ONX Sports in Colorado, UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is getting some work in. Trevor Wittman talks about the routine. It’s his second camp with Usman. He talks about fighting your friends, and Usman doesn’t need extra motivation other than just being a competitor.
We take off for Florida, and Gilbert Burns’ training camp. His coach is using a bunch of big words that I don’t understand. It seems to be working though, because Burns is ripped. He talks about knowing Usman so well, which makes it easier to prepare. But the same is true vice versa, so they have some surprises.
Back to Cali, where Gastelum is doing strength and conditioning. This was his last day of actual camp. He goes home and takes an ice bath. He hates it and makes strange noises as his bemused girlfriend watches on.
Burns is getting a suit from his usual tailor. He does the Conor McGregor strut.
And that’s it! UFC 258 goes down this Saturday night in UFC Apex.
