Right before UFC 257’s fight week, Dana White officially pulled the plug on the would-be super fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre. According to the UFC president, neither man was interested in making the bout happen.

“GSP never came up (in our meeting),” White said of his closed-door sitdown with Nurmagomedov. “He’s not interested in that fight, and from what I hear today after that, neither is GSP. So that’s over.”

That’s apparently not the case with St-Pierre, who says a fight with Khabib is the only thing he’d come back for. But he made it clear that he won’t be reaching out to the UFC to make it happen.

“If the UFC would want me back, it’s not me that would go and try to beg for a fight,” St-Pierre told Michael Bisping and Luis Gomez in a recent episode of the Believe You Me podcast. “‘Hey please, can I come back?’ They’re gonna lowball the sh-t out of me. It would be the most stupid thing I can do. And you understand that as a fighter.

“If they have an offer to make to me, an offer I cannot refuse, they know where to reach me.

“I hear a lot of fans, ‘Oh, GSP, why doesn’t he…’ It’s because I don’t need this stress in my life anymore. I’m good where I am. But contemplating the idea of fighting against who’s the greatest right now, it’s Khabib, things would need to be lined up right in order for me to consider it.”

For his part, the 32-year-old Nurmagomedov once again stated that fighting isn’t on the horizon for him. White is already beginning to come to terms with it and says he will no longer push the issue if Khabib can’t be convinced.
