UFC 257 midweek betting odds: Conor McGregor favored inside distance in Dustin Poirier rematch

It’s just about time for the first MMA PPV of the 2021 calendar year as UFC 257 goes down this Saturday, January 23rd, from Fight Island in Abu-Dhabi. The top of the billing will be a monumental rematch between former champ-champ, Conor McGregor, and former interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier. The co-main event of the evening is where former Bellator lightweight champion, Michael Chandler, makes his highly anticipated UFC debut by taking on the promotion’s #6 ranked 155-pounder, Dan Hooker. Bloody Elbow is here to drop the betting lines for these fire matchups and for the rest of the UFC 257 lineup.

The bookies are expecting McGregor to get another win against Poirier on Saturday. Odds.com has McGregor listed as a -278 betting favorite, with a $100 wager potentially paying out a grand total of $135.97. Poirier is being offered up as a +210 underdog, which could see a $100 winning ticket payout a cool $310. Not too much has really changed since their initial fight, at least in terms of the odds. The first time around was at UFC 178 in 2014 and Conor was a -280 betting favorite, with Dustin being a +240 underdog. So, McGregor’s line this time around is about the same as it was, with Poirier’s dog tag beefing up just a tad.

The over/under for this 25-minute matchup has been set at 2.5 rounds. The ‘Under 2.5’ prop bet is sitting with a favored tick of -132, with a +113 comeback on the ‘Over 2.5’ option. Judging by the over/under you can already tell that the oddsmakers are forecasting this fight to finish up early. The prop ‘Fight goes distance’ has the ‘No’ selection heavily favored at the -285 mark, with the ‘Yes’ bet on the table with a sizable +333 underdog line.

McGregor is the fighter that’s deemed most likely to get a finish, and is even favored to do just that. Expected to add to his 91% finish rate, McGregor inside the distance can be scooped up with favored tick of -140. As for Poirier, and his finishing rate of 73%, his inside the distance prop owns a thick underdog line of +370.

In the UFC 257 co-main event, Michael Chandler and Dan Hooker are involved in a pretty tight line. Hooker is faintly favored, rogering up with a moneyline of -126 that could see a $100 bet payout $179.37. Gamblers can take the price on Chandler for a value of +125, with a winning $100 gamble bringing home a crisp $225. When it comes to the prop bet ‘Fight goes distance,’ both the ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ options can be found with minus lines. The ‘No’ bet is barely favored here with a -130 line, with the ‘Yes’ option charging less juice at -110. For the record, Chandler has a finishing rate of 76%, with Hooker historically a little more lethal at 85%.
