A welterweight bout previously scheduled for last month’s UFC Vegas 17 card is now back on for UFC 258.
Welterweight veteran Belal Muhammad confirmed on his podcast that he’s set to face Dhiego Lima (brother of Bellator champ Douglas Lima) on February 13th. Muhammad had previously tested positive for COVID-19, hence the fight was scrapped from the December 19th card.
Lima (15-7) got into the UFC through season 19 of The Ultimate Fighter, losing the final to Eddie Gordon. He was cut the promotion after dropping two of his ensuing three fights, but once again found himself in the UFC after making it to the final of TUF: Redemption, only to come up short against Jesse Taylor. He’s certainly been much better in his second UFC stint, winning his last three bouts against Chad Laprise, Court McGee, and Luke Jumeau.
Muhammad (17-3) has been one of the more under-the-radar welterweights in the UFC. Some of you clearly haven’t remembered the name very well. Anyway, the former Titan FC champion is 8-3 inside the Octagon and a winner of seven of his last eight. His current three-fight winning streak consists of decisions over Curtis Millender and Lyman Good, with a submission of Takashi Sato sandwiched in between.
UFC 258 is headlined by a welterweight championship bout between reigning titleholder Kamaru Usman and his former teammate Gilbert Burns. A location and venue for this event has not yet been revealed.
