TMZ is reporting that YouTuber and hobby boxer Jake Paul, who knocked former NBA player Nate Robinson out cold in November, is looking to move from celebrity filled Calabasas, CA to somewhere with less distractions. The reason? So he can better focus on his boxing career.
Paul announced his intention to move on Wednesday and said that he was moving from the LA area to get away from all the “madness” and parties. He said he is looking to relocate to somewhere he felt was more conducive to achieving his dreams of becoming a champion level boxer.
Paul undertook a four month training camp in Las Vegas ahead of the Robinson fight, but apparently he is considering that famously distraction-free hotspot of Miami, FL as his new home.
The 2-0 boxer (whose other win is against a fellow YouTuber) has lived in California since he was 17. However, it appears as though he may not be missed by those living closest to him.
Paul has a reputation for throwing all-night ragers at his mansion, much to the chagrin of his neighbours (many of whom are also rich and famous). His parties, especially the one he threw after the Robinson win, have also annoyed local government.
Calabasa mayor Alicia Weintraub condemned Paul’s recent after-fight party and warned that the event could be a COVID-19 super spreader. When it comes to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic Los Angeles County is one of the hardest hit areas in the entire United States with over 800,000 reported cases over 10,600 deaths (per LA County Public Health).
To the ire of most combat sports fans Paul, and his brother Logan, have become increasing present in the world of boxing and MMA. Logan Paul is currently scheduled to box Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout next month.
Jake Paul has called out MMA fighters Ben Askren, Jorge Masvidal, Dillon Danis and Conor McGregor as he searches for his next opponent.
It seemed as though a fight with Askren was on the table, but recently the former Bellator, ONE and UFC fighter said he didn’t think that bout would happen.
