A battle of heavy-hitting welterweights is headed to the Octagon in February. Per Combate’s report, Alex Oliveira will take on Randy Brown in a fight expected to go down at UFC Fight Night 189, next year.

After beating both Max Griffin and Peter Sobotta in 2020, Oliveira (22-9-1-2 NC) tried to snatch one more win before the end of the year, but it backfired. In his last outing, the Brazilian ‘Cowboy’ came up short against rising prospect Shavkat Rakhmonov, who tapped him out via guillotine choke in October, at UFC 254.

In a similar situation, Brown (12-4) will also try to bounce back from a loss that snapped a two-fight winning streak for himself. Back in 2019, the 30-year-old scored a couple of stoppage wins over Bryan Barberena and Warlley Alves, but was stopped by Vicente Luque in August, in a fight he lost via knockout at UFC Vegas 5.

Now, Oliveira is expected to take on Brown at UFC Fight Night 189, on February 27, in a location yet to be determined. Although not yet official, a light heavyweight bout between contenders Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka will most likely headline the card.
