Jon Jones has high hopes for Claressa Shields in MMA, as the undefeated women’s middleweight boxing champion recently joined Jackson Wink MMA Academy ahead of her Professional Fighters League (PFL) debut next year.
Jones, who trains at Jackson Wink alongside the likes of Holly Holm and Carlos Condit, recently got the opportunity to teach Shields some of the basics — and he’s seriously impressed by what he saw.
‘Bones’ uploaded the footage to Instagram with the following caption.
“@claressashields becoming even more dangerous @jacksonwink_mma”.
The former three-time UFC light heavyweight champion followed up by posting a couple of photos of their workout together.
“@claressashields reminded me what it was like to be 25 again, this woman could train all day. Excited about her future,” Jones wrote.
Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, will be making her transition to MMA while still remaining active in boxing. The 25-year-old phenom will make her mixed martial arts debut on April 23 against a TBD opponent.
