Main Card

Marvin Vettori vs. Jack Hermansson

Round 1 – Hermansson opens with a low calf kick. Left hand lands from Vettori and Hermansson answers with two leg kicks. Vettori pressures and lands a couple of punches. Hard right body kick from Hermansson, they exchange punches after. Righ than from Hermansson followed by a knee to the body. They’re both trading inside, Vettori lands big and Hermansson is down! He’s trying to finish. He goes for the neck. Hermansson defends and gets back to full guard, and this seems to have let him recover. Vettori goes for the neck again, but no legit threat. Hermansson gets up and the round ends. 10-9 Vettori

Round 2 – Hermansson lands a right hand and an inside leg kick to start. Right kick from Hermansson, and he goes for a single leg. He’s relentless on these takedown attempts. Vettori gets a switch and he’s now on top. Omoplata attempt from Hermansson and Vettori defends. He’s back in guard being active, but nothing much is happening. Vettori gets up and starts kicking on his leg. Both are up now. Leg kick from Hermansson. Takedown attempt from Hermansson then turns it to a big knee from the clinch. Inside leg kick and body kick from Hermansson. Right hand from Vettori to end the round. Very close round, but I’ll weigh Hermansson’s slightly better strikes more than Vettori’s top control without ground and pound. 10-9 Hermansson.

Round 3 – They trade right hands. They trade one each again. Hermansson lands a nice kick then goes for a takedown. Vettori defends well, and Hermansson lands a body kick on the break. Another body kick. Another single leg attempt from Hermansson. Scramble and they’re back to the feet. Right hand from Hermansson. Is Vettori slowing? Takedown attempt again, stuffed again. Right hands from Hermansson. Left uppercut from Vettori. Left hook from Hermansson, and right hand from Vettori. Nice combination from Hermansson, and he’s starting to do much better now. Two jabs from Hermansson and Vettori is wincing a bit. 10-9 Hermansson.

Round 4 – They trade punches. Hermansson lands a left hook. Vettori with a left. They trade again. Vettori lands three lefts, and Hermansson lands one big right hand. Left hand again from Vettori. Vettori seems to be doing better striking on this round. Right hand from Hermansson, left again from Vettori. It’s not thrown with full power, but Vettori is finding a home for that straight left, and he’s in a good rhythm. Nice upper cut, right straight and left hook combo from Hermansson. Big left from Vettori. They’re trading blows. Left kick from Vettori. Right from Hermansson, and Vettori counters with a combination. Clear Vettori round. 10-9 Vettori.

Round 5 – Hermansson comes out with a leg kick. Left hand again from Vettori. More left hands land. Right hands from Hermansson. Nice combo from Vettori answered back with uppercuts from Hermansson. They’re just trading inside again. Right hand from Hermansson. Big left from Vettori. How are they not getting wobbled and hurt from these? They’re trading non stop on the inside. Insane pace at the fifth. Nice combo from Hermansson, and Vettori just eats it. Uppercut from Vettori, answered by a big right hand from Hermansson. They clinch, and finally the pace slows a little. Hermansson dives for a leg as the round closes. What a way to end a fight. I can imagine the scores being all over the place here, but that’s 10-9 Vettori, and 48-47 overall for me.
