Two of the UFC’s most tenured fighters will square off for the first time this February 6th, 2021.

MMA Junkie reported that a lightweight matchup between Clay Guida and Michael Johnson is slated for February 6th, aka Super Bowl weekend. No venue or location has been announced yet.

Guida (35-20) is coming off a loss to Bobby Green in June. Last year he won a decision over B.J. Penn before a wild submission defeat to Jim Miller. His next fight will be his 30th with the promotion, as well as his 15th year inside the Octagon. “The Carpenter” has never gotten a title shot but he’s been a fan favorite thanks to many Fight of the Night thrillers over the years.

Johnson (19-16) is really in must-win territory at this stage of his career. The 34-year-old is on a three-fight losing skid, perhaps made worse by the fact that he was clearly winning both the Thiago Moises and Josh Emmett fights before he was stopped. Johnson also suffered a debatable split decision loss to Stevie Ray. His last win came against Artem Lobov in 2018, but at the moment he’s now under .500 after 23 UFC appearances.

The UFC’s Super Bowl weekend card is headlined by a heavyweight tilt between contenders Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov on February 6th., 2021.
