The day some of you have been waiting for is finally here. ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson returns to the boxing ring after 15 years away from the sport. Tonight, the 54 year-old takes on Roy Jones Jr., who is 3 years his junior.
In their primes Tyson and Jones were, of course, two of the greatest boxers of their generation. But now, with a combined age over 100, who knows what we will see inside the squared circle.
The bout is an exhibition fight. The California State Athletic Commission has said that no winner for the fight will be announced, that both fighters were prohibited for going for knockouts and that both men will be awarded with a ceremonial belt after the contest.
Triller, which is broadcasting the fight, has denied some of those claims, saying knockouts were on the table and that WBC judges will score the fight for a winner.
Who knows what will actually happen. Guess we will have to watch and find out.
The co-main event sees YouTuber Jake Paul, who is following in the footsteps of his more popular brother Logan Paul, take on Nate Robinson a former NBA player and three time slam dunk champion. Paul has tried his hand at boxing previously, beating a fellow YouTuber in a pro fight back in January. This will be Robinson’s first fight.
Also on the card former WBC super-middleweight and WBA light-heavyweight champ Badou Jack, 37, comes out of retirement to face Blake McKernan, 33.
