
Another day, another hit to the UFC VEGAS 15 card.
UPDATE 11/27/20: Blaydes vs. Lewis has also been cancelled — due to Blaydes testing positive for COVID-19, is is presumed Anthony Smith vs Devin Clark will be elevated from the Co-Main and become the new headliner for the event.
MMA Fighting confirmed an earlier report from TASS that a flyweight bout between Amir Albazi and Zhalgas Zhumagulov will not be happening on this Saturday’s show. Reasons for the postponement are unclear but it is likely that the fight will be rescheduled.
Albazi (13-1) prevailed in his UFC debut this summer when he submitted Malcolm Gordon in the first round. Zhumagulov (13-4) entered the UFC has the Fight Nights Global flyweight champ and a promising prospect in the division, but he lost his debut to Raulian Paiva in a close decision at UFC 251 in July.
This is the second main card fight to fall through for the UFC in recent days. Late last week, Renato Moicano vs. Rafael Fiziev was moved from this weekend’s show to UFC 256 after Moicano tested positive for COVID-19.
UFC Vegas 15 is headlined by a heavyweight clash between former title challenger Derrick Lewis and top contender Curtis Blaydes. The co-main is now the headliner and features former light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith against Devin Clark.
