You can now add PFL to the list of organizations that aren’t willing to sign the recently released Anderson Silva. As company president Ray Sefo told Fight Sports in a recent interview, he would rather see “The Spider” retire for good.

“Listen, I mean that guy is such a legend in the sport but isn’t he around 46? The guy is such an amazing talent,” he said. “I think he has been a great champion. He’s definitely gonna go down in history as one of the best to ever do it.

“Nothing but a lot of respect, but I just think it’s that time to hang it up.”

Silva is indeed one of the most spectacular fighters MMA has ever seen, but the last seven years of his career have been on a downward spiral. As a fan himself, Sefo would rather remember the former longtime middleweight champion for his legendary performances.

“Watching his last fight, he also fought a former teammate of mine, and Uriah Hall was able to finish that fight,” he said. “Anderson Silva is a legend and he’s gonna go down in history as one of the best to do it, so I’d like to remember him as that guy.”

PFL is now the third organization to reject the idea of signing the 45-year-old Silva, after Bellator and ONE Championship.
