Lightweight contender Renato Moicano will have to wait a little longer to step into the Octagon again. Fortunately, it will not have to be very long, should things go well.

In an interview with Youtube channel Punchline MMA, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelt revealed that a positive COVID-19 test forced his fight with Rafael Fiziev to be postponed for two weeks. Originally expected to fight on November 28, Moicano wil now have to wait until December 12, at UFC 256, to make his second Octagon appearance of 2020.

In his last outing, Moicano (14-3-1) moved up to the lightweight division, where he picked up a rear-naked choke submission win over Damir Hadzovic, back in March. The 31-year-old left the featherweight on a two-fight losing skid, with knockout defeats to Jose Aldo and Chan Sung Jung.

Fiziev (8-1) will look for his third straight win, after having already defeated both Alex White and Marc Diakiese via unanimous decision, respectively in October 2019 and July 2020. The 27-year-old’s sole professional loss happened in his Octagon debut, when he got knocked out by Magomed Mustafaev, in April 2019.

Now, Moicano is expected to meet Fiziev at UFC 256, at the UFC Apex, on December 12. The card is rumored to be headlined by a flyweight title fight between the champion, Deiveson Figueiredo, and top contender Brandon Moreno.
