John Lineker lived up to his nickname “Hands of Stone” at ONE Championship: Inside the Matrix 3, as the Brazilian picked up a KO win against former champion Kevin Belingon.
Lineker and Belingon’s fight headlined the pre-recorded event that aired on Friday. The fight started with the former bantamweight champion Belingon chopping down Lineker’s lead leg, but the Brazilian was unphased and fired back with his trademark wild haymakers.
In the second round, Lineker started mixing up his attack targeting the body and head of Belingon. Just over a minute into the round, a left hand followed by a right uppercut dropped Belingon, and Lineker finished the fight with some follow up ground-and-pound.
“Belingon is very strong opponent, but I did work very hard to be here tonight,” Lineker said after the fight. “I’m gonna to be the champion. This is the reason why I’m ‘Hands of Stone.’ I came here to drop (people), become the first to knock out Kevin Belingon.
“I’m here to be the champion,” Lineker said. “Hey Bibiano Fernandes, I’m coming for you, baby.”
Geje Eustaquio and Min Jong Song put on an end-to-end fight in the co-main event, but it was the longtime flyweight Eustaquio who would go on to get his hand raised by unanimous decision in the end.
Elsewhere on the card, accomplished Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner Yuri Simoes made his MMA debut, but fell short to middleweight Rong Fan. Russian welterweight Murad Ramazanov remained undefeated as a professional with a decision win over Hiroyuki Tetsuka, while Koha Minowa won a split decision against Lito Adiwang.
