According to a press release sent out by the Professional Fighter’s League (PFL), PFL lightweight champion Kayla Harrison will appear at Invicta Fighting Championships’ Invicta 43 on November 20th.
At that event Harrison is scheduled to face Courtney King in a featherweight contest. The bout is currently planned for the co-main event slot.
Before switching to MMA, Harrison earned gold medals in judo at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. She also won gold medals at the World Judo Championships and Pan American Games.
Harrison’s pro MMA debut came at PFL 2 in June, 2018. There she used an armbar to beat Brittney Elkin in under four minutes. Since then Harrison has amassed a perfect 7-0 record.
Last December she won PFL’s lightweight title after defeating former UFC fighter Larissa Pacheco by unanimous decision.
Invicta 43 was scheduled to include two title fights. However, a bout between Pearl Gonzalez and Erin Blanchfield for the vacant Invicta flyweight title has been called off after Gonzalez tested positive for COVID-19. The remaining title fight sees Emily Ducote face Montserrat Ruiz for the vacant strawweight title.
The event also features a flyweight bout between Stephanie Geltmacher and Caitlin Simmons and a featherweight bout between Brittney Cloudy and Hope Chase.
The PFL is currently on a hiatus after canceling their proposed 2020 season. The PFL cited the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as their reason for pulling the plug on what would have been their third season.
