A few days ago UFC President Dana White said that the proposed rematch between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier was a done deal. However, according to one half of that match-up White may have spoken too soon.
In a now deleted tweet, the former interim UFC lightweight champion tagged the UFC and White to tell them to “stop playing games!” The tweet also asked the UFC brass to send him “the right contract.”

Whether the deleting of the tweet signifies that Poirier was indeed sent the ‘right contract’ remains to be seen. If that has happened we can expect to see ‘The Diamond’ try to reap revenge against the ‘Notorious’ one on January 23rd.
Poirier and McGregor first locked horns back in 2014, back in the UFC’s featherweight division. The bout, which took place at UFC 178, ended via a TKO win for the Irishman.
After that fight Poirier went on a four fight winning streak, before being KO’d by Michael Johnson in 2016. Since that loss Poirier has gone 6-1 (1 NC) in the promotion, beating Eddie Alvarez, Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway in thrilling battles that scooped numerous bonuses for the ATT product.
Last year Poirier unsuccessfully challenged Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC lightweight title. In his most recent fight, in June this year, the American beat Dan Hooker by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Vegas 4.
