Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva did say his fight against Uriah Hall would be his last one before hanging up his gloves for good, However, the Brazilian’s personal trainer Rogerio Camoes, has another take on the matter.
A close friend of “The Spider,’ Camoes does not believe Silva is talking about retiring entirely from fighting once he leaves the UFC. In an interview with Portal do Vale Tudo, Rogerio explained the reason why he feels like Anderson is not calling it quits for good. From his conversations with Silva, it seems the former champion himself is not ready to say goodbye just yet.
“In every conversation I’ve ever had with Anderson Silva,” Camoes said, “he always says he doesn’t want to stop, that he still wants to fight, that he fights because he loves it and still is very determined to keep on fighting.”
“That’s why nobody at the gym has this farewell feeling,” he continujed. “It’s because of Anderson’s attitude. He never said anything about a last fight, on the contrary. Him saying farewell to the UFC does not mean he will stop fighting.”
In his last outing in May 2019, Anderson Silva was TKO’d by Jared Cannonier, which came after a unanimous decision loss to now champion Israel Adesanya. In fact, the 45-year-old’s sole win in his last eight bouts is a controversial unanimous decision victory over Derek Brunson, in February 2017.
Now, Anderson Silva is expected to take on Uriah Hall at UFC Fight Night 181’s main event, on October 31, at the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
