Join us tonight (Thursday, October 15th) on Bloody Elbow for live results and detailed play-by-play of Bellator 249, the card’s first US-based show to air on CBS Sports Network.

In the main event, Cris Cyborg makes the first defense of her women’s featherweight title against Australia’s Arlene Blencowe. The co-main event pits lightweight contender Patricky “Pitbull” Freire against former LFA champion Jaleel Willis.

Main Card (10 PM ET, CBSSN/DAZN)

Cris Cyborg vs. Arlene Blencowe

Round 1

They open trading kicks, Cyborg punctuates a combination with a low kick. More kicks from Cyborg. Cyborg is backing up Blencowe. Blencowe lands a clean punch in a combo, but Cyborg fires back and clinches Blencowe against the cage. The action slows, Cyborg only landing the occasional punch and knee. Cyborg picks up the pace with her knees, nailing Blencowe’s legs before hitting a takedown. Cyborg into side control. As Blencowe tries to scramble up, Cyborg transitions into the mount. Cyborg lands some heavy punches. Blencowe bucks and scrambles, but only succeeds in transitioning Cyborg to her back. Cyborg looking for the RNC, but can’t find it. Some punches land to Blencowes face. Blencowe gets to her feet and Cyborg begins opening up. Dominant round for Cyborg. Cyborg 10-8

Round 2

Cyborg opens with more kicks and punches to all levels. Blencowe maintaining the center, but Cyborg is picking up the pressure. Cyborg pushes Blencowe against the fence and lets her fists fly to the body and head. Blencowe is bloodied up as Cyborg hits a takedown. Cyborg moves from half guard into the mount. Cyborg briefly flurries with punches before Blencowe can tie up her arms. Cyborg unleashes some elbows. Blencowe gives up her back. Cyborg looks for the RNC and gets it. Blencowe taps and Cyborg retains her title in dominant fashion with her first career submission. Cris Cyborg defeated Arlene Blencowe via submission (RNC) at 2:36 of RD2

Ricky Bandejas vs. Leandro Higo

Round 1

It takes 29 seconds for the first strike to land, a kick to the body from Bandejas as they feel each other out. A kick up the middle from Bandejas is followed by a calf kick from Higo. Higo pressuring, but not throwing much. A jab from Higo is answered with a heavy right from Bandejas. They trade some kicks and punches in a hurry before Higo scores a takedown. Higo staying heavy on top in Bandejas’ guard, landing the occasional body punch. Higo steps out of the guard and lands a couple of heavy shots as he throws Bandejas’ legs away. Bandejas tries to scramble away and Higo pushes him on the fence, still on top of Bandejas. Higo lands some heavy punches to the face. Higo advances to the mount. Higo teases the guillotine, but ends up adjusting his position. Higo looking for an arm triangle choke, but it isn’t there as the first round closes. Higo 10-9

Round 2

Bandejas opening up with kicks as they circle the center of the cage. Higo slowly moving Bandejas towards the cage with his pressure. Higo explodes with a punch and a shot, picking up Bandejas, carrying him across the cage, and dumping him in front of Higo’s corner. Higo takes Bandeja’s back, getting a body triangle sunk in. He sinks in an RNC and it isn’t long before Bandejas taps. Leandro Higo defeated Ricky Bandejas via submission (RNC) at 2:32 of RD2

Steve Mowry vs. Shawn Teed

Round 1

Mowry is stalking Teed. Teeds’s back hits the cage and he begins firing back, pushing the action back to the middle… for a bit. Mowry continues to pressure and lands a knee to the face. Teed advances forward behind a jab and ends up clinching for a takedown. Mowry breaks it and returns to the pressure. Mowry misses another high knee. Nice right hand from Teed. They trade jabs. Left hook and a low kick from Mowry. A flurry from the two of them and Mowry ends it with another high knee before clinching. They quickly break and Mowry is back to stalking Teed. Mowry mixing up kicks with his punches. Teed lands a left, but Mowry answers. A high step in knee from Mowry stuns Teed and a right hand from Mowry sends Teed to the canvas. Mowry is reluctant to follow up, but the referee isn’t stopping the action. A few more punches from Mowry and the fight is finally called. Steve Mowry defeted Shawn Teed via TKO (knee) at 4:22 of RD1

Saad Awad vs. Mandel Nallo

Round 1

Nallo opens the action with a series of low kicks, none landing too cleanly. Nallo whiffs on a head kick. Awad hits the mat on a missed kick, but is quickly back to his feet despite Nallo clinching up with him. Nallo pushes Awad against the cage. They trade position against the cage and Nallo lands a HARD knee to the groin of Awad. Awad is in some serious pain. Awad cannot continue after the five minute is up and the referee calls the contest. Saad Awad and Mandel Nallo fight to a No Contest at 1:44 of RD1

Preliminary Card (7:15 PM ET, Online)

Andrew Kapel defeated Joseph Creer via TKO (doctor stoppage) at 5:00 of RD2

Kemran Lachinov defeated Kyle Crutchmer via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

Christian Edwards defeated Hamza Salim via submission (RNC) at 1:28 of RD2

Da’Mon Blackshear defeated Mike Kimbel via submission (RNC) at 4:14 of RD2

Aviv Gozali defeated Logan Neal via submission (kimura) at 3:22 of RD1
