Jorge Masvidal is taking his next fight beyond the UFC Octagon.

The UFC welterweight contender teamed up with Donald Trump Jr. to campaign on behalf of the U.S. President ahead of the 2020 elections. His campaigning efforts included taking part in a ‘Fighters Against Socialism’ bus tour, which made stops in Orlando, Coconut Creek, and Miami, as well as speaking on the supposed dangers of socialism and communism in an attempt to court Hispanic votes in Florida.

“Since I was about knee high I’ve been hearing about the horrors of communism and socialism,” Masvidal said. “We either re-elect president Trump and keep America great again, or we let Joe Biden and the radical left take us down the slippery slopes of socialism and misery.”

During the final stop on the bus tour, Masvidal was joined by Cuban American businessman Maximo Alvarez as well as senator Marco Rubio. He also spoke to FOX News, where he struggled to explain how the Democratic party represents socialism before descending into arbitrary talking points.

“One of the things I see immediately — whether they call themselves socialists or not — is that this is the greatest country…because we have the greatest literature, which is the constitution,” Masvidal said. “And when people are trying to mess with the constitution, our amendments, I immediately hit the panic button. I start to get on the defence mode and start to think they are preparing for something much, much worse.”

The bus tour is part of the Trump campaign’s “Operation MAGA,” which replaced Trump on the campaign trail while he was sidelined following a COVID-19 diagnosis. Beyond that, the Trump campaign had a heavy presence inn Florida over the past week. Vice President Mike Pence visited Orlando on Saturday for a Latinos for Trump event.
