UFC Vegas 6 medical suspensions: Four fighters could be out until mid-2021

Last weekend’s UFC Vegas 6 took quite the toll on a number of fighters. Though the main event between Derrick Lewis and Aleksei Oleinik (which ended in a TKO win for Lewis) didn’t result in any major suspensions, further down the card there were a number of fighters who may be held out of action until mid 2021.

Here’s a full breakdown of the suspensions, handed out by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, via Kirik Jenness and his The Underground forum.

Aleksei Oleinik (lost to Derrick Lewis by TKO) suspended until 09/23/20, No contact until 09/08/20 – Lacerations left eye & lip.

Chris Weidman (defeated Omari Akmedov by unanimous decision) suspended until 09/08/20, No contact until 08/30/20 – Hard fight.

Omari Akhmedov suspended until 09/08/20 No contact until 08/30/20 – Laceration under right eye.

Darren Stewart (defeated Maki Pitolo by submission) suspended until 09/08/20, No contact until 08/30/20 – Laceration left scalp.

Yana Kunitskaya (defeated Julija Stoliarenko by unanimous decision) must have MRI of neck & right arm, if positive must be cleared by Orthopedic Dr or no contest until 02/05/21; minimum suspension no contest until 08/30/20, no contact until 08/23/20.

Beneil Dariush (defeated Scott Holtzman by KO) suspended until 09/08/20, No contact until 08/30/20.

Scott Holtzman must have left inferior orbital floor fracture cleared by Maxillofacial Surgeon or no contest until 02/05/21; minimum suspension no contest until 09/23/20, no contact until 09/08/20.

Tim Means (defeated Laureano Staropoli) suspended until 08/30/20, No contact until 08/23/20.

Kevin Holland (defeated Joaquin Buckley by TKO) suspended until 08/30/20, No contact until 08/23/20 – Laceration left eye.

Joaquin Buckley suspended until 09/23/20, No contact until 09/08/20 – Lacerations left eye.

Nasrat Haqparast (defeated Alex Munoz by unanimous decision) suspended until 09/23/20, No contact until 09/08/20 – Laceration left eye.

Alex Munoz must have laceration under right eye cleared by Dr. or no contest until 09/23/20, no contact until 09/08/20.

Wellington Turman (defeated by Andrew Sanchez by KO) suspend until 10/08/20, no contact until 09/23/20.

Peter Barrett (defeated by Youssef Zalal by unanimous decision) must have X-ray of left ribs, if positive must have Orthopedic Dr. clearance or no contest until 02/05/21, minimum suspension no contest until 09/08/20, no contact until 08/30/20.

Irwin Rivera (defeated Ali Alqaisi by split decision) must have X-ray of right hand & wrist, if positive must have Orthopedic Dr. clearance & possible left eye corneal abrasion cleared by Ophthalmologist or no contest until 02/05/21.

Ali Alqaisi suspended until 09/23/20, No contact until 09/08/20 – Sutures on nasal bridge.
