According to the Evening Standard British MMA champion Jahreau Shepherd was killed in London, England this weekend. Shepherd died after being stabbed at his own 30th birthday party.
Police and paramedics were called to the housing estate where Shepherd lived at around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Shepherd, who was discovered on a communal lawn, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shepherd had been celebrating his birthday and barbecuing with friends and family before being attacked.
Shortly after Shepherd’s death a 26-year-old man entered a hospital with stab wounds believed to have been suffered at Shepherd’s birthday party. He is expected to recover.
Scotland Yard is now investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
In pro MMA Shepherd had a record of 6-2. In his last bout he beat Quinten DeVreught to lift the CEA welterweight title. Prior to that bout he beat John Jasinski to win the UCMMA welterweight title. Earlier in his career Shepherd appeared both Bellator MMA and BAMMA.
