Former UFC flyweight title contender Ray Borg was supposed to fight on Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 10 card at the company’s APEX facility in Las Vegas. But after an emergency involving his two-year-old son, Anthony, “The Tazmexican Devil” pulled out of his scheduled matchup against Merab Dvalishvili.
Fortunately, his son is now doing well. In a recent post on Twitter, Borg spoke up about his withdrawal from the fight, while providing an update on Anthony’s health.

“Thank you so much for the overwhelming support,” he wrote. “As you all know, I pulled out from my fight to be with my son. With his condition being life-long, he is at risk for surgery every day.
“Although there were some worries about his shunt failing due to some malfunction symptoms, I am happy to let everyone know that he is at home doing well and will not need any surgery. Thank you everyone who had reached out. We love you all.”
The young Anthony suffers from hydrocephalus, a condition that causes a build-up of fluid in the brain. He underwent a couple of brain surgeries shortly after he was born in 2018, which also caused his father Ray to pull out of a then scheduled fight against Brandon Moreno in Chile.
