UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko has showed her support for Jon Jones following his recent arrest.

Jones, 32, was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning for an aggravated DWI, firearm charge and more. The light heavyweight champion has since been released from custody but will have to reappear in court on April 8th. Since Jones’ arrest, the UFC has announced they are “gaining additional information” regarding the case.

Although Jones had his fair share of fellow MMA fighters criticize him for his recent arrest, Shevchenko came to his defense on Twitter.

“So sad the modern world is all about hype!” Shevchenko wrote.

“Now many people starting to insult Jon Jones without knowing his real situation! Fighting on the same card, I could see he is kind and noble man!”

Both Shevchenko and Jones recently fought on the UFC 247 card in February, with Jones defeating Dominick Reyes by split decision and Shevchenko finishing Katlyn Chookagian on the night. “Bullet” said with all the troubles Jones has been through in his career, he will only come back stronger after this arrest.

“Him being in all that difficult times,” Shevchenko said. “He will be back stronger.”
