UFC 248 post-fight bonuses: Zhang-Jedrzejczyk put on fight for the ages
Bloody Elbow 2.0 | Anton Tabuena

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada was home to a fantastic night of fights at UFC 248 tonight, Saturday, March 7th, 2020. The card saw three (T)KOs, two submissions and six decisions, including three split-decisions.

Tonight’s card was a fun one with plenty of entertainment in all the fights, but it would be the co-main event that would steal the show. Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk put on a fight for the ages in a fast-paced, brutally violent contest that saw Joanna’s face disfigured with a huge hematoma on her forehead and a completely smashed nose. These ladies traded every manner of kick, knee, elbow and punch in the book, showcasing elite level striking on both sides. It was a close fight but Zhang would retain her belt in a razor close performance where the judges called it a split. I can hardly wait for the inevitable rematch.

The main event happened.

Performance of the Night: Beneil Dariush, Sean O’Malley

Danaa Batgerel (KO (left hook) at 3:01 of round 1), Gerald Meerschaert (club-n-sub (punches to RNC) at 2:13 of Round 3), Rodolfo Vieira (Sub (BJJ domination/arm triangle) at 2:58 of Round 1), Sean O’Malley (TKO (strikes), 2:02 of round 1), and Beneil Dariush (KO at 1:00 of Round 2) all won their fights inside the distance but it would be Beneil Dariush and Sean O’Malley who would take home the $50,000 POTN bonuses.

Fight of the Night: Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Giga Chikadze (29-28, 28-29, 29-28), Mark O. Madsen (29-28×3), Alex Oliveira (29-28, 28-29, 29-28), Neil Magny (30-27×3), Weili Zhang (48-47, 47-48, 48-47), and Israel Adesanya (48-47×2, 49-46) all won their fights but it would be Weili Zhang’s spectacular fight with Joanna Jedrzejczyk that would take FOTN honors.
