UFC 248 is in the books, and we were witness to two very polar opposite title bouts. The co-main event saw an instant classic and all out war between Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, while the headliner was an uneventful, low output affair between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero.
Here’s a quick twitter thread with a brief recap and analysis of the event, that’s fitting for people’s social media era attention spans:

PROS: That’s how you make the most out of your return. Seems like O’Malley took out all his frustrations with USADA and unloaded it on Quinonez’s face.
CONS: Unless you’re Quinonez, none!

MAGNY DECISIONS JINGLIANG
PROS: It’s a good night for comebacks from weird USADA suspensions I guess. Neil Magny looked sharp after a long layoff, used that jab nicely, and picked apart Li.
CONS: Some slow moments, but nothing too bad.

DARIUSH KOs KLOSE
PROS: That was crazy. Dariush was a human backpack in round 1, then round 2, Klose hurt Dariush. He tried to go for the finish, then Dariush landed his own big shot to turn the tide and get the KO.

ZHANG EDGES JOANNA IN FOTY
⁰PROS: GODDAMN. ONE OF THE BEST TITLE FIGHTS EVER. It went back and forth, but Weili’s clearly the harder hitter. Joanna took shots better than she used to, but she was almost unrecognizable after.
CONS: NONE. (Except for maybe the long term damage)

ADESANYA OUTPOINTS ROMERO

CONS: It threw cold water after Zhang/Joanna. Romero complained about “not fighting,” but he didn’t throw either. Fans booed Adesanya but weirdly cheered Romero even if both were inactive⁰https://t.co/eoWH5TZ4xM

#UFC248 OVERALL:
PROS: SPECTACULAR CO-MAIN. One of the best title fights. Strawweight is just so entertaining.
CONS: HORRIBLE MAIN EVENT. One of the worst title bouts. Hopefully Adesanya-Costa can be booked soon, so we can move forward and erase this from our memories already.
