The UFC is in Virginia this weekend, where the promotion had planned to have its vacant flyweight title is up for grabs. Contesting over the belt was supposed to be former title challenger Joe Benavidez and the surging Brazilian Deiveson Figueiredo.
Benavidez did his part, coming in half a pound under championship weight. However, Figueiredo came in 2.5 lbs over. This means Figueiredo is no ineligible to win the title. If he beats Benavidez on Saturday the title will remain vacant. If Benavidez wins he will be the UFC flyweight champion.
The only other fighter to miss weight was Grant Dawson, who weighed 149.5 lbs for his featherweight bout with Darrick Minner.
