Bellator 238 kicks off this Saturday from the Forum in Inglewood, California — with the Julia Budd defending her 145-pound belt against recent signing, Cris Cyborg, in the main event. Bloody Elbow is back to provide the betting odds.
**The main card will begin at 10:00 PM ET and air live on DAZN, with the prelims starting at 7:30 PM ET.
Cris Cyborg is known for being a dominant force and is regularly known in the betting community as a heavy favorite. This time out is no exception. Cyborg is heavily favored and be scooped up at a steep cost of -460. As for the defending champ, Budd owns a stout underdog tag of +365, which is a moneyline she hasn’t seen since her bout with Ronda Rousey way back in 2011.
The oddsmakers are projecting that the Bellator 238 main event will be ending early, and why shouldn’t they? We are talking about Cyborg after all, who has only seen scorecards in four out of her 24 outings. As for Budd, nine of her 15-fights have ended inside the distance. The prop bet “Fight doesn’t go to decision” is greatly favored with a moneyline reaching -600. As for the option “Fight goes to decision,” well that comes with a hefty underdog value of +400. Budd does like to clinch and we’ve seen Cyborg spend some time with her back to the cage, so maybe there is a small chance that this lasts all five-rounds.
The Bellator 238 co-main will be the next installment of the promotion’s featherweight World Grand Prix. Former bantamweight champ, Darrion Caldwell, will square off with the undefeated dark horse, Adam Borics, in a quarter-finals matchup. Both fighters began their betting lives with minus lines. Caldwell opened up at -110 with Borics favored at -130. Since then, Caldwell is a standalone favorite, only available for around -120. As for Borics, he currently sits at both plus and minus lines, depending where you look. He is available anywhere from -115 up to +103.
The bookies are leaning towards this GP matchup ending early. Borics is a killing machine while Caldwell is a mixed bag when it comes to finishes. In his 14 outings, Borics has only gone the distance in three of them. Out of 17-fights, Caldwell saw the scorecards eight times. The exotic bet “Fight doesn’t go to decision” clocks in with a favored mark of -140, with a +100 comeback on “Fight goes to decision.”
