Two weeks ago, UFC veteran Alistair Overeem snapped a two-fight win streak when he suffered a fifth-round TKO loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik. That fight also rendered him with a split lip after absorbing a hard right hand.
“The Demolition Man” is now healed up and back doing interviews with the media for UFC Busan this weekend in South Korea. During one of the scrums, he talked about the controversial stoppage of referee Dan Miragliotta, which he completely disagreed with.
“To me, it was a win, because we beat him every round,” Overeem said (via MMA Fighting). “The referee should not have jumped in. I was not KO’d. I stand back up, it was two seconds left, three seconds left, one second left – to me it was a win. And I always fight for myself. Of course, you have fans, it’s great, of course the money is great, but I fight for me, and I see it as a win.
“I beat him very easy all around,” he added. “Okay, I got hit in the last five seconds. My lip is damaged. Who cares?”
Overeem says he would like to return by March or April, but has no opponent in mind yet.
