The first of three UFC 245 title fights just came to a close with the defending bantamweight champ, Amanda Nunes, taking a unanimous decision over the former featherweight title holder, Germaine de Randamie, in their rematch. Nunes leaned on her wrestling and grappling to take GDR out of her wheelhouse and impose her own will. Nunes has now won ten-straight, re-enforcing her status as the pound-for-pound G.O.A.T.

Nunes started off the bout with a heavy right cross that backed up GDR. She then switched levels and put GDR on her back. GDR made it back to her feet and started to clinch up with Nunes against the cage, unleashing knees to the body. Nunes hit another takedown and landed some big punches, and with volume. She passed the guard and locked up an arm triangle, but GDR hung tough and escaped.

Nunes came out throwing leg kicks in the second round, with GDR looking to land heavy leather. Nunes ducked under a punch to score another takedown. GDR held on and was awarded a referee standup. GDR landed a question mark kick on the champ, and then started crushing with knees in the Thai clinch. Nunes responded with another takedown to keep GDR on her back for the remainder of the round.

Nunes was able to secure a takedown within the first minute of the third frame. GDR was getting controlled, without threatening with any submission attempts. Nunes was doing enough with chipping strikes to not get stood up. GDR did land an up kick that seemed to hurt Nunes, but didn’t capitalize on it. She finally got back to her feet with less than 30-seconds left, but Nunes dragged her right back to the mat.

It took less than 30-seconds for Nunes to find the takedown in the fourth round. GDR found herself stuck again, but this time was able to lock up a triangle and threaten with an armbar. Nunes escaped and realized another takedown, and got back to controlling from the top. It took all of about 15-seconds for Nunes to get the takedown in the fifth act. She kept racking up the top control time, doing just enough to not get stood up. GDR did not make it back to her feet.

Amanda Nunes def. Germaine de Randamie by unanimous decision (49-44, 49-46, 49-45): (W) Bantamweight Title
