The main event will a welterweight title contest between champion Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. That is the last of three title fights on the card, which also features featherweight champ Max Holloway defending against Alexander Volkanovski and champ champ Amanda Nunes defending her women’s bantamweight title against Germaine de Randamie.

This post will cover the first three fights on the main card.

We’ll start on Fight Pass at approximately 6pm ET with four fights. The card then moves to ESPN2 at 8pm ET for four more bouts, then onto the main PPV card at 10pm ET. The full lineup and schedule follows. The preliminary card and main events will be covered in separate posts.

Amanda Nunes vs. Germaine de Randamie

Round 1 – Jab from Nunes. Inside leg kick. She lands a right over the top. Nunes catches a kick and lands a right hook. Another low kick. All Nunes so far. Another overhand right. Huge double-leg takedown. Big punches from Nunes. Nunes drops for a guillotine when they’re back up! De Randamie survives. GDR clinches and lands knees. Nunes reverses and gets a trip takedown. Big punches from Nunes! GDR tries to upkick. Nunes settles in her guard and lands an elbow. More punches and she backs out. She jumps back in with more big shots! Nice upkick from GDR but Nunes is alllll over her. GDR is flopped on her back. Nunes secures an arm triangle! GDR almost tapped but she held on. She lands another upkick. 10-8 Nunes.

Round 2 – Nunes with an uppercut and a low kick. Another low kick. De Randamie is trying to throw this round at least. GDR lands a right that gets Nune’s attention. And another! GDR with an uppercut. Nunes ducks under a shot and easily puts De Randamie on her back. Minute and a half in. The ref stands them up inside 30 seconds. Huge head kick from De Randamie! GDR charges forward and lands a jump knee! She clinches and lands two more hard knees. An elbow over the top! Nunes looks hurt! Knee from GDR against the fence. Another. Nunes shoots and takes her down. She’s trying to drop elbows but De Randamie is defending well. Nunes stands up and….doesn’t do anything. She jumps in with a wild right that’s blocked. 10-9 De Randamie.

Round 3 – Nunes swings and misses. Inside leg kick and a right from De Randamie. Nunes with a low kick. She scores another takedown. She is steadily trying to advance position this time instead of looking for big GnP. She did land a nice elbow though. The crowd is booing at the inaction. Body shots from Nunes. More elbows. Steady stream of body shots. Back to the elbows. GDR trying to strike from the bottom. Another elbow. GDR lands a big upkick that might have stunned Nunes! Nunes just fell on her and held on. Elbows again. Ton of GnP but GDR takes it and stands up. Nunes takes it right back down. 10-9 Nunes.

Round 4 – GDR with low kicks. Nunes with one as well and she shoots. GDR is immediately on her back. Elbow from Nunes. Hammerfist and a left. Big elbow inside. GDR positions up and rolls over the top of Nunes into a topside triangle of sorts. Nunes tries to flip out of it and it just made it worse! This looks bad! Nunes manages to escape. Wow. She gets an immediate takedown again. And she’s just resting now. The crowd boos. The ref is stood over them, debating whether to stand them up. He elects not to. They boo some more. Nunes is landing a steady stream of light GnP that is blocked. 10-9 Nunes.

Round 5 – They hug. And Nunes takes her down about eight seconds later. Few light punches to the body. There’s not a lot happening. GDR looking for a standup. Nunes is doing just enough to avoid it. Two minutes to go. We’re still here. The crowd is booing again. De Randamie is trying to punch from the bottom but she has no leverage. One minute left. Nunes steps out. She jumps back in with a punch and avoids the upkick. Nunes in side. 10-9 and 49-45 Nunes.

Amanda Nunes defeated Germaine de Randamie via unanimous decision (49-44, 49-46, 49-45)

Marlon Moraes vs. Jose Aldo

Round 1 – Head kick from Moraes staggers Aldo right away. He lands another. He throws a flurry, then the head kick again. Aldo with a big counter straight right. Aldo pumping the jab but he’s out of range. Front kick from Aldo. Low leg kick with Moraes. Moraes with a right hook. Moraes with another right. Counter left from Moraes. Jab from Moraes. Inside left kick from Moraes. Jab from Aldo. Body shot from Moraes. Lead right from Aldo and he goes to the body. Right over the top and Moraes is stunned. He fires right back in the pocket! Aldo scores again and Moraes throws him to the floor. 10-9 Moraes.

Round 2 – Jab from Moraes. Aldo returns it. Aldo jabs the body. Leg kick from Aldo, but he eats a right counter. Moraes with the jab. Right hook and a jab from Moraes. Aldo with a right and a jab. Aldo rips the body. Jab and a straight right score for Aldo. Aldo with a combo and he staggers Moraes. Aldo with another big shot but Moraes cracks him back with a right hook! Aldo goes to the body again. Moraes with a couple of rights. Jab from Moraes. Spinning wheel kick from Moraes is blocked. Right over the top from Aldo. One minute to go. Jump knee from Aldo. Moraes with a left. Uppercut from Aldo! Both men are throwing bombs, this is great. Straight left from Moraes. Two jabs from Moraes. 10-9 Aldo.

Round 3 – Aldo rips a lead right. Moraes fires back. Slower pace this round. Moraes presses but doesn’t land. Aldo is the guy usually moving forward though. Moraes is circling. Lead right from Aldo. Aldo misses with a flying knee. Jab from Moraes. Aldo with a lead right and a left. Aldo with a body kick. Moraes kicks low. Nice left from Moraes. Moraes shoots, eats a knee, and cracks Aldo with a left hook. Jump knee from Aldo. 10-9 and 29-28 Aldo.

Petr Yan vs. Urijah Faber

Round 1 – Yan coming forward. Body kick from Faber. Yan with a low kick. Faber with a nice step-in knee. Faber misses with an overhand right and a head kick. Yan scores with a left. Head kick from Yan. Front kick from Urijah. Yan steps in with a right. Faber catches a kick but Yan can’t do anything with it. Left over the top from Faber. Yan just misses with an uppercut. He lands it the second time. Left from Yan, right hook from Faber. They clinch. Yan breaks it with a two-punch combo. 10-9 Yan.

Round 2 – Faber with a right. He’s coming up short with his jab. Quick left hook scores for him. They’re missing a lot. Yan puts together a nice combo though. Faber with underhooks against the cage. Faber with a lead right. Hard elbow from Yan on a break. Faber scoops a single, but Yan defends nicely. Yan with a right that stuns Urijah. The next shot drops him! Yan is all over him but Faber weathers it. He’s up and he stuns Yan with a right! His nose is busted up. Gigantic elbow over the top floors Faber again! Yan lands more punches but Faber is up again! What heart! Yan drags him to the ground, but there’s a massive cut to the side of his eye. The doctor checks it, but they let him continue. This could get real ugly, real quick. One minute to go. Yan with some punches. Faber uses a leg lock attempt to get up. Yan with another hard shot. Faber fires right back. Yan spins around to Faber’s back and trips him down. 10-8 Yan.

Round 3 – Jab from Yan. Yan with a glancing head kick. They clinch. Yan breaks it and lands a kick to the face that floors Faber again! It’s over now. No follow up needed. Wow.
