Seeing Anderson Silva crumple to the canvas earlier this year after a barrage of leg kicks was traumatic for long time fans. That it was at the hands of Jared Cannonier made things even more surreal. Cannonier however does appear to have come into his own, finding success as a reasonably sized middleweight. Perhaps he is the real deal.

Jack Hermansson is on the verge of becoming the 2019 Breakout Fighter of the Year. He has sliced through David Branch and made Jacare Souza leave the middleweight division for the first time in his career. Hermansson has a jubilation in the cage that made it hard for me to consider him a serious contender, but I stand corrected.

Saturday night’s main event might be the most significant middleweight contender bout of the year. Keep an eye on this one.

Take care of yourself and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
