As advertised, the featured matchup of UFC Vancouver just witnessed the company’s #5 ranked Justin Gaethje spark out the #4 Donald Cerrone in the opening round. Gaethje is on a three-fight winning streak, having knocked out all of them. Making the most of his post-fight interview, Gaethje called out the winner of likely lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.
In the fight, Gaethje looked for his patented leg kicks right away. Cowboy did a descent job of checking them, but a couple of Gaethje overhands got through. Cowboy landed a couple of solid straight punches, but the bolos of Gaethje kept coming. He dropped Cowboy, and then dropped him again. Gaethje looked to referee to stop it, but had to land a couple more punches to get the finish.
Justin Gaethje def. Donald Cerrone by TKO at 4:18 of round 1: Lightweight
