UFC 244 is expected to be somewhat historic event. Headliners Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will be fighting it out for the first “bad motherf—r” title, which according to UFC president Dana White, will also be the last.

“No. It’s a one-and-done,” White told reporters during the UFC 242 media scrum over the weekend (transcript by MMA Fighting). “Whoever wins, wins the belt and claims the title. ‘BMF.’”

“This fight is one of those fights that sort of took on a life of its own. Nate said in his interview this is a fight to see who’s the baddest motherf—r in the game,” he added. “He’s like, ‘That’s what this championship is.’ So alright, I’m in.”

UFC 244 was supposed to feature Kamaru Usman’s first title defense as welterweight champion against Colby Covington. But as White explains, it was “The Nigerian Nightmare” who refused to jump onto the opportunity, leading them to the Masvidal-Diaz booking.

“That fight started to come together late last night and we got it done,” he said. “We offered Usman fights and they didn’t jump on it, so we rolled and we made another fight.”

UFC 244 takes place on November 2nd at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
