According to Patch.com Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller, 38, pleaded guilty to a felony count of vandalism and a misdemeanor count of violating a protective ‘stay-away’ order at an Orange County, CA courtroom two weeks ago. As a result the former UFC and Strikeforce fighter received a one-year jail sentence.

Miller had been in custody since October 19th, 2018 after he was arrested under suspicion of smashing a marble table, punching holes in doors, and derailing a garage door at a woman’s home in La Habra, CA.

That woman – who had a protective order against Miller – is the same person who Miller admitted assaulting in September, 2017. Miller was sentenced to 124 days in jail for those charges, but was released with credit for time served.

According to police reports, earlier in 2018 Miller was arrested again after being found in possession of a bulletproof vest, knives, a machete, an axe, a samurai sword, and replica assault weapons. The reports state he was also found in possession of human growth hormone and other performance enhancing drugs.

Miller was on probation at the time of his arrest. According to Patch, his probation officer has filed a report detailing Miller’s behaviour as “disappointing.” Court records from last year state that Miller dropped out of a drug and alcohol recovery program after testing positive for marijuana products and various opioids.

Miller was given probation in 2017 after reaching a plea deal with Orange County prosecutors. That deal was reached after Miller was arrested for assaulting a girlfriend along with various other conflicts with law enforcement. At sentencing Miller was told he could face up to 21 years in prison if he broke the law again.

Between 1998 and 2016 Miller amassed a professional MMA record of 28-10 (1). His UFC debut occurred in 2005, when he lost to a 9-1 Georges St-Pierre. After appearances in WEC, DREAM, and Strikeforce Miller rejoined the UFC in 2011.

His re-signing with the UFC included a role as coach on The Ultimate Fighter season 14, opposite Michael Bisping. Miller lost to Bisping in the show’s finale and then lost to C.B. Dollaway in his final UFC fight. Miller’s last MMA fight was in Italy for the Venator FC promotion in 2016.

Throughout his MMA career Miller has made a slew of other media appearances. Between 2009 and 2012 Miller hosted MTV’s Bully Beatdown. In 2012 Miller also appeared in the Kevin James comedy film Here Comes the Boom. In promoting that film Miller had an infamous appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

Miller was arrested on charges of domestic violence a year after the ‘MMA Hour incident’. Miller has had public run-ins with law enforcement each year since then, often involving allegations of domestic violence and battery.
