After recently signing with the UFC, Dana White’s Contender Series middleweight Antonio Trocoili might face a suspension even before having his Octagon debut. Fresh off a submission win over Kenneth Bergh on episode 3 of the show’s third season, ‘Malvado’ tested positive for banned substance nandrolone, according to Combate’s report.

A performance-enhancing steroid, nandrolone has been found in the systems of multiple MMA fighters in the past, such as former champions Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie, among others. Trocoli’s manager, however, claims that the test must have suffered some kind of adulteration to explain the unexpected result.

“We are starting to learn how this process of testing supplements works, so we can find out where is the adulteration. The UFC is helping us in this process, so the situation can clear up soon and he can have his debut as soon as possible,” said Lucas Lutkus, Trocoli’s manager.

On a three-fight winning streak, Antonio Trocoli (12-3) scored unanimous decision wins Rodrigo Carlos and Fabio Moreira prior to his submission of Bergh on the TV show, in early July. Malvado’s last loss happened in June 2017, when he was TKO’d by Marcelo Ramos at Jungle Fight 91.
