There is some history between UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway and former two-division Conor McGregor. Since they first fought in 2013, the two have been ribbing at each other through social media.

The two also took part in the bottle cap challenge that spread around, with other celebrities joining in. During a recent media scrum ahead of UFC 240, Holloway made comparisons between how they did the challenge, while somehow connecting it to McGregor’s inability to defend both the featherweight and lightweight titles while he held them.

“McGregor’s? If you talk about it, Conor when he kicked it, his bottle cap went straight flying off,” Holloway said. “When I kicked mine, mine just kept on spinning and spinning and stayed on. So, it’s preferences.

“Some people win championship belts, some people defend them. Whatever preference you want.”

After losing to Dustin Poirier at lightweight at UFC 236 in April, Holloway will defend his title for the third time against former 155-pound champion Frankie Edgar this weekend at UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Co-headlining the card is the women’s featherweight fight between Cris Cyborg and Felicia Spencer.
