It was an eventful morning at the UFC 237 official weigh-ins, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. First of all, after almost two years away from the Octagon, former bantamweight title challenger Bethe Correia came back to miss weight by five pounds, weighing in at 141 for her fight against Irene Aldana.
Afterwards, a lightweight bout between Francisco Trinaldo and Carlos Diego Ferreira was completely scratched, with the latter not even making it to the scale. According to Combate’s Raphael Marinho on Twitter, Ferreira suffered from a crisis of kidney stones and had to be removed from the card.
Away from the Octagon since a June 2017 knockout loss to Holly Holm, Bethe Correia (10-3-1) hasn’t won a fight since a split decision win over Jessica Eye back in September 2016. Carlos Diego Ferreira (15-2), however, is currently on the best run in his UFC career, winning four straight bouts against Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Jared Gordon, Kyle Nelson and Rustam Khabilov.
Apart from both incidents, the remaining fighters made weight as usual and no major bouts suffered any changes.
UFC 237 is expected to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on May 11. The card will be headlined by a female strawweight title fight between the champion, Rose Namajunas, and contender Jessica Andrade.
