The BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida was home to a decent night of fights. The card saw two (T)KOs, three submissions, and eight decisions, including three split-decisions.

Performances of the Night: Jim Miller, Glover Teixeira

Jim Miller wasted no time issuing an L to Jason Gonzalez in Sunrise, Florida. As soon as the ref gave the signal to fight, Miller was all over Gonzalez. After landing a couple combos and leg kicks, Miller assumed the role of backpack. Gonzalez defended for a few moments, peeling Miller off, but inevitably, the wily vet got him down on the canvas, secured the body lock and subsequent rear-naked choke. Jim Miller gets the win and a $50,000 bonus. It is his ninth performance bonus.

Glover Teixeira took some heavy shots from opponent Ion Cutelaba, but was able to weather the storm. The two slugged it out through the first round, but a leak in Cutelaba’s gas tank, combined with the savvy fight smarts of Teixeira, was a recipe for disaster for the Moldovan. With less than 90 seconds on the clock of an exciting round two, Glover got Ion to the floor, flattened him, sunk the deep choke and that was the end. Glover Teixeira gets the win and a $50,000 bonus.

Fight of the Night: Alex Oliveira vs Mike Perry

Mike Perry and Alex Oliveira put on a helluva fun scrap for fight fans tonight. “Cowboy” dominated most of the first round, lighting “Platinum” up frequently, but towards the end of that stanza, Perry was beginning to hit his stride. Round two saw Perry pick Oliveira up and throw him down, defend himself well from an attack against the cage, and work some vicious ground-and-pound from half-guard. The final five minutes were a fast-paced slug fest that Perry executed and controlled well. The Florida transplant clearly had more gas in the tank and more pop on his punches, netting him a big win over a dangerous opponent. Perry gets the win and both men get $50,000 bonuses for their exciting battle.
