Max Holloway’s son, Rush, was left in tears at cageside following his dad’s loss at UFC 236 this past weekend, but retired basketball superstar Shaquille O’Neal was there to console him and his family.
The touching moment was captured in the sneak peek of UFC 236: “The Thrill and the Agony”. In the clip, Holloway’s son Rush is shown cageside visibly upset after his dad’s tough decision loss to Dustin Poirier. Shaq then walks over to ‘Mini-Blessed’ to comfort him, as well as his family.

Later on in the episode, Holloway gifts the gloves he wore in the fight to Poirier’s The Good Fight Foundation, of which their current goal is to build a playground in Poirier’s hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana. The cameras capture a nice exchange between Poirer’s wife and Holloway as she thanks ‘Blessed’ for his kind gesture.
The video then concludes with an ecstatic Poirier beaming as UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier gives him a Lousiana flag, only to snatch it back after ‘Diamond’ jokingly tells Cormier his teammate, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, needs to “get his sh*t together.”
