Wondering where Tony Ferguson is and why he didn’t accept an interim lightweight title bout versus Max Holloway?
Well, according to UFC President Dana White, the former interim champion is dealing with ‘a lot of personal issues right now.’
White made the statement in response to a disgruntled fan on social media, who asked why Ferguson hadn’t been booked to fight.
Although White didn’t elaborate on Ferguson’s personal issues, ‘El Cucuy’ himself posted a Tweet claiming that he had been ‘threatened’ and that he fears for his family’s safety.
Although he started the statement with a running joke, Ferguson’s tweet appears to be of a very serious nature.
I’m the type of guy that has been antoganized, provoked, and threatened to take & not take fights or certain opportunities to benefit monetarily otherwise my family would be have been hurt. -Champ Shit Only

Furthermore, Sherdog founder Jeff Sherwood posted on Friday that he had received a tip of an alleged incident involving Ferguson’s wife and child.

Details are sparse, but let’s hope Ferguson and his family are in safe hands and free from harm.
The 35-year-old last fought at UFC 229, where he finished former UFC and WEC lightweight champ Anthony Pettis in the second round. The bout earned Fight of the Night honors, and Tony extended his win streak to eleven.
