Former UFC champion Anthony Pettis contemplates welterweight fight against Stephen Thompson

Over the last two years, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis has fought at two weight classes. As he enters 2019, “Showtime” is looking to compete in his third, where he will likely be moving up.

In a recent Instagram post, the 31-year-old Roufusport fighter hinted at a possible fight against two-time welterweight title contender Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.

Heard somebody is looking for a fight. What you guys think? Take my talents to WW and take on the boy? Comment ⬇ let me know if y’all get excited for this one #showtime #lovethis#forthefans #teampettis

After 11 years fighting at lightweight, Pettis made his featherweight debut in August 2016 against Charles Oliveira, where he won via third-round submission. He wasn’t as fortunate in his next 145-pound matchup against Max Holloway, whom he lost to via third-round TKO, and ultimately urged him to move back up to 155 pounds.

Pettis last fought at UFC 229 in October, where he lost to Tony Ferguson via corner stoppage at the end of the second round.

“Wonderboy”, meanwhile, last fought in May, where he lost to Darren Till via unanimous decision.
