The co-main event of UFC 232 pitted women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg against fellow Brazilian and current women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in a superfight. This was thought to be the toughest opponent Cyborg has ever faced, and it wasn’t even a contest, as Nunes wiped Cyborg out in under a minute to become the first simultaneous two-division champion in UFC history. It’s Cyborg’s first loss since 2005, her professional debut. Unbelievable!
They started swinging inside of 20 seconds, and with bad intentions. Nunes buckled Cyborg with a leg kick and then rocking her with a left hook and amassive right hand. Cyborg desperately shot for a takedown and failed. They traded more big punches but Nunes was sharper and more accurate, and knocked Cyborg down again. Cyborg got back up and gamely fought on, but one more right hand put her down for good.
She knocked out Ronda Rousey in 48 seconds, and it only took her three more seconds to thrash the most dominant fighter in women’s MMA history.
Official Result: Amanda Nunes def. Cris Cyborg by KO (punches) at :51 of round 1 to become the new UFC women’s featherweight champion
