Eddie Alvarez goes on rant about Jones’ drug test: He should have ‘zero’ drugs in his system

Jon Jones recently tested positive — again — for performance-enhancing drugs but, rather than being pulled from his light heavyweight championship rematch against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232, the former light heavyweight champion has been licensed by the California State Athletic Commission to fight at The Forum in Inglewood, California. This after the Nevada Athletic Commission refused to sanction the fight.

Rather than being provisionally suspended (as is the case for all other fighters who test positive for PEDs) the UFC, USADA and Jeff Novitzky are trying to sweep Jones’ latest drug test under the rug by claiming that ‘Bones’ still has trace amounts of Turinabol left in his system from his previously failed drug test back in July, 2017.

Many fans and fighters are outraged by the news, and one fighter who feels particularly passionate about the subject is former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

Alvarez went on a tirade on Twitter, claiming that there are no excuses for Jones’ latest positive drug test.

The newly-signed ONE FC fighter says fighters should have ‘absolutely f-cking zero’ banned substances in their system.

While the UFC is trying to project the image that they are ‘cleaning up the sport’, there is a clear double standard when it comes to Jon Jones. He tested positive for trace amounts of a banned substance, which means he shouldn’t be competing at UFC 232 in any capacity.

Alvarez, and many other fighters, are aware of this, which is why Jones, USADA and Novitzky have received such a negative backlash on social media.

‘The Underground King’ will make his ONE Championship debut against Timofey Nastyukhin on March 31 in Tokyo, Japan.

Jones will take on Gustafsson in the UFC 232 main event, which takes place later tonight, Dec. 29 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
